My name is Laura. I have always worked in the customer service industry, and most of my positions have had common traits. Through my years in this field and management roles, I learned that I am really great at making clients feel welcomed and heard, being a supportive coach for my team, coming up with step-by-step plans to tackle problems, and effectively communicate those solutions to them in an engaging way. One of these opportunities was on a Marketing team that allowed me to learn editing, copy writing, project management, and website maintenance using HTML and CSS. Throughout my years there, I took every opportunity to code more, working closely with our full-stack web developer.
Through this, I realized I wanted to have a skill set that I could grow in continually, that would allow me to creatively tackle the problems and address the ideas of my client base. I decided web development was the best fit for me. I am studying full-stack web development at Centriq Training, and would love to share with you some of my current work and discuss opportunities to make your websites shine.
Here's a little snapshot with more about me.
These are the skills that I am currently working on. As I progress through my training, I will be adding more skills. I also want to take the opportunity for self-guided learning of Java, Swift, Angular, and NativeScript to take on mobile apps as well.
These are some of my most recent experiences that have helped to solidify my skills in understanding my client base, team leadership, and problem-solving. These opportunities have contributed greatly to my pursuit of a career in web development as a place to build on these skills and remain a lifelong learner.

IHOPU is a Christian training program with a strong emphasis on spiritual growth and leadership development. In the Justice Ministries Concentration, we explored social justice through a Christian lens.
Here is a portfolio with some of my finished works.
This is a simulation of an online store created as part of my body of work for school. My concept was for an online secondhand store, completely made of items I actually own. You can see more at ustore.codelaura.com
Early on in my program, we were tasked with practicing our front-end skills by putting our resume on a webpage and styling it up as we like.
This was a C# exercise. We were tasked with creating a "Dungeon" game, complete with players, various mosters, and attack sequences and a scoring system.
As another exercise in growing my skills, I created this site completely from scratch. It's a website devoted to the love and pursuit of coffee, one of my most beloved hobbies and areas of interest.
In C#, I wrote code for a console app that will take input from a user and tell them the amount of each type of coin they would receive back in change.
My passion is to hear your ideas, help sort them out, and deliver a beautiful finished product. I have learned to communicate through my experience and can give voice to your ideas throughout the entire process. I would love the opportunity to work with you!
From my experience leading an Editing and Copy Writing team in a Marketing setting, and even acting as the project manager to initialize projects, I have the unique ability to sit down with you in each stage of the process and ensure your ideas are heard, verbalized, and refined--whether that be with your content, your design, or the actual code designed to bring your website to life.
With an artistic eye and a love of finessing and beautifying whatever I put my hands to, I am also available to help with web design.
I love to problem-solve and organize, and in my experience with my marketing team it was common for me to collaborate with our designers and developers on wireframes and mockups.
Let's get this conversation started!
